PAPD Pipes and Drums Band Performs for Commuters at Port Authority Bus Terminal

On Monday, March 16, the Port Authority Police Department Pipes and Drums Band marched and performed on the main concourse of the South Wing of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, spreading the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day for New Jersey and New York commuters Monday morning. Read More

PAPD Officer Apprehends Robbery Suspect After Foot Pursuit

On Saturday, March 14, Port Authority Police Officer Carlos Olivares responded to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station in Washington Heights for a report of a fight in progress. Olivares learned that what was reported as a fight was actually a robbery. Olivares interviewed the victim, who provided a description of two suspects and their direction of flight. The victim, who suffered facial, head and hand injuries, reported that the suspects forcibly took the victim’s cellphone and other property. Olivares began a canvass of the area and observed the suspects fleeing toward 179th Street and Broadway. Olivares pursued the suspects on foot and apprehended one suspect at 180th Street. That suspect was positively identified by the victim. Read More

Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On Saturday, March 14, the Port Authority Police Pipes and Drums braved cold winds to march in the annual Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They made sure the only thing louder than the wind was the music, bringing smiles to the young, the old and everyone lining the parade route. Read More

PAPD Officers Arrest Suspect, Recover Stolen Rental Vehicle

Late Friday night, March 13, Port Authority police officers responded to a local car rental company in Jamaica on a report of a stolen vehicle. Police Officers Connor Hay, Ryan Ward and Brandon Busch gathered a description of the suspect and vehicle and began a canvass based on information provided by the rental company. Officer Busch located the vehicle and suspect in the vicinity of North Conduit Avenue in Ozone Park. A felony car stop was conducted, and the suspect was taken into custody and the vehicle recovered. The suspect was charged with Grand Larceny Auto 2° among other charges and will also answer for an outstanding warrant out of Brooklyn. A job well done by Officers Hay, Ward and Busch. Read More
