Watch the testimonial from Police Officer Patrick Gorman, son of Port Authority Police Officer Thomas Gorman, as he talks about why he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the ranks of the Port Authority Police Department.
Port Authority Police officers cover a wide array of responsibilities. Our officers must be prepared to engage a terrorist target at a moment’s notice while having the grace to respectfully connect with a runaway child.

Twenty-four years ago on May 30, 2002, the World Trade Center 9/11 Rescue and Recovery operations came to a formal end with the removal of the Final Column.
The Final Column is topped off with PAPD37, a tribute to the 37 Port Authority police officers who were killed in the line-of-duty at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
The column, which was one of the 47 columns that supported the inner core of the South Tower, stood intact still embedded in the bedrock below the Tower. It now stands in the 9/11 Museum as a symbol of the resilience and courage of the 9/11 first responders.
Members of every PAPD Recruit Class that graduated the Port Authority Police Academy since September 11, 2001, has taken their oath of office in the 9/11 Museum next to the Final Column.
To each member of the PAPD, the Final Column represents the strength of the PAPD, a police department wounded like no other in the history of American law enforcement, to continue to protect the people of New York, New Jersey and the millions using Port Authority facilities daily.
The Port Authority PBA takes exceptional pride in representing America's finest police officers.

A message from the PBA President:
Clearly, unions representing workers can be strongest when we stand together as a unified force. Working together, we’ve achieved significant Tier 5 and 6 pension system improvements for our members.
These are real improvements, significantly more impactful than in prior years, and they’ll result in real, tangible financial benefits for our members, both during active duty and in retirement.
We appreciate the support of our legislators who voted for the passage of the budget, and we are thankful to the governor for signing it. That said, we will continue our tier equity endeavors going forward.
I’d like to recognize the non-stop efforts of Recording Secretary Shaun Kehoe, First Vice President Mike Mollahan, retired PBA President Bing Markee, and the Executive Board and Legislative Committee of PCNY, including our counterparts in the Nassau, Suffolk, and MTA Police Unions.
Frank Conti
President
