How do you find happiness in today’s world? Dr. Peter Killeen discusses the importance of focusing on self-care during these challenging times and the potential post-pandemic obstacles Americans may face as we work towards returning to normalcy.
Watch the testimonial from Police Officer Patrick Gorman, son of Port Authority Police Officer Thomas Gorman, as he talks about why he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the ranks of the Port Authority Police Department.
Port Authority Police officers cover a wide array of responsibilities. Our officers must be prepared to engage a terrorist target at a moment’s notice while having the grace to respectfully connect with a runaway child.
Saturday, December 6, 2025, Keansburg, NJ; Port Authority PBA Delegates Malachy Cox (PABT), left, and Dylan Bernhardt (NLIA) helped assemble and deliver new bicycles to children during the Hero's Holiday Bike Drive at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church in Keansburg, New Jersey. The Hero's Holiday Bike Drive was started by fallen PAPD hero Police Officer Kenneth Tietjen, E.O.W. 9/11/2001. Kenny began the Bike Dive some years before making the ultimate sacrifice to bring Holiday Cheer to children in need. His parents have continued the Bike Drive in honor and memory of Kenny. This year the Hero's Holiday Bike Drive delivered almost 200 new bicycles to children at different locations. More than 30 bicycles were delivered to children at Saint Ann's. Sunday, December 7, 2025, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day;
Today we pause to honor and remember 2,403 Americans who were killed in the December 7, 1941, Japanese surprise attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. That attack propelled the United States into the deadliest war in world history, World War II.
On December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed in a Joint Session of Congress, "Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - A Date Which Will Live In Infamy," put America on war footing against tyrannical regimes that saw more than 400,000 Americans perish fighting for the freedom we enjoy today; a debt that can never be repaid. They are forever known as "The Greatest Generation."

Thursday, November 27, 2025, 14th Street PATH Station, NYC;
Port Authority Police were alerted to a man acting erratically on a PATH 14th Street Station platform in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood on Thanksgiving. The man was observed on Port Authority surveillance cameras possessing what appeared to be a butcher-type knife.
PAPD patrol and ESU units were dispatched while the PATH Control Center instructed trains to bypass the station.
Police Officers Bora Kagitcioglu (L) and Nicholas DeSalvo arrived on scene and were confronted with an unhinged 34-year-old man armed with a large knife and acting as if he was stabbing people.
The officers positioned themselves to protect the people in the station as the man continued acting out violent knife-wielding motions.
The standoff eventually ended as the man dropped knife and was taken into custody.
The officers successfully ended what could have resulted in a tragic incident without injuries to the public, the man or themselves. A textbook example of control and de-escalation of a dangerous engagement by Police Officers Kagitcioglu and DeSalvo.
